Backlog elimination

thanks for the post

This post sounds like music to my ears. :)

Although I am sceptical that my case with ND of 10/2004 will really take 6 months.

Well,

they seem to be consistant with the latest news and the fact that we are seeing obvious improvements in processing.

This is the second issue of this newsletter (http://uscis.gov/graphics/publicaffairs/uscistoday.htm find other on the bottom of the page) and observe that they always emphasize 'backlog reduction/elimination'.

So since there are 180K asylum cases in backlog, and the total number of all cases in backlog is 990K. The pace they have been working in last 4 months is REDUCING the backlog for ~70K/month. So if the same pace continues starting from July '05 till Oct '06 (which is 15 monts), then the backlog will be more then eliminated ie they could process 15x70K=1,050,000 cases which is above current 990K.

So not trying to be optimistic but rather to use simple math and for the first time in last several years, I am seeing real (documented) consistency in what they say and do.

This is the president's goal to eliminate the immigration backlog and to process all aplications in a six months period. If they want to do so they can since someone who applied for immigration benefit and have his/her fingerprint taken they know you and will be able to deal with you if the want to. The president is the immigration boss as soon as he wants something to be done he will put all necessary measures to achieve his goal. That is simple!!!!!!!

This is all BS! Clinton tried backlog elimination too and it was good at the beggining..We used to get our RTD's in 28 days and then slowly it was to 40 days then 60 and now 5 months...So just drink the coolaid as they give you..This is all BS

I am not going to force you to understand my point. And I don't think they will do that because they like you. But the only thing that I know Bush is not Clinton. Most of the time Republicans when they want to do something eventhough in our understanding its "good" or "bad" they stick on it and you pretty much know where they stand. At the present time, I don't its on their interest to keep people waiting since your wait is considered as a national security issue.

I think you might be wrong. The last thing USCIS would want to do is make everyone a U.S Citizen. Thats the fact. The national security issue theory of yours goes out the window because everyone is fingerprinted and their background checked when they apply for asylum. For other applications, their fingerprints are taken within few months of filing of application..

Republicans are very anti-immigrants. THey do not want everyone to be U.S Citizen. Matter of fact there is a bill in the house that says that they should abolish U.S Citizen's right to sponsor a realtive(brother, sister, mom, dad), only spouse, children should be allowed.

On the other hand they get potential votes of the future citizens. Plus, they made rules striker for asylum applicants which will reduce number of immigrants anyway.

I have to disaggree with you this time, Want.

Within 8 years in office, what did the fucker Cliton do for us asylees and asylum applicants, other than the notorious "Last Come First Serve" policy?

I will be a republican if my green card is issued by Bush administration.

If it wasn't for clinton, anyone who applied for asylum in 1999 would have had his interview in 2004. Thats how the case was before the 1996 immigration reform that made 6 month wait for interview from 5 years.

Believe it or not but lots of my family members who applied for asylum in 1991 time frame got interviews in 1996 after that law..waisted 6 years for no reason.

BUt that law also caused all this asylee backlog.

If you look at one of their report such as the last "ombusband" (excuse me if the spelling wrong) report you will see in their new strategies and proposed immigration reform they were very concerned about people who gets some immigration benefit because of the simple fact they filed a petition. He took example of someone who married a US citizen and get his/her driver license, got a social security card, or buy property. But after reviewing the case they found the marriage was flawed and such person was not eliglble for such immigration benefits. So they want to process all cases in timely manner to get people who are not entitle to get immigration benefit out as soon as possible and reduce at the same time the backlog.

I think when they talk about Backlog elimination, they mean everyone EXCEPT asylees. Asylees go through a vigorous process of getting approved so what benefit is for USCIS to adjust us in a good time frame? This backlog elimination is for people as you suggested in your post that are abusing the system. Asylees are not included in the backlog elimination...if that was the case, the date of asylee adjustment would have been moved from 12/99. It hasn't been touched for almost 1 year.

want,

Why do you think they make difference between refugees and asylees? I know for fact that refugee background check OUTSIDE US is not any different then any other visa. They just require different papers to prove the fact they are eligable for refugees. Once we are all here in US why would asylees have harder time getting the GCs?

One more thing you need to understand guys. there is nothing that they do because you are loved. its all about strategies. The truth is this country give to peolple a lot of opportunuities to succeed but at the same time you have to do your best to get it. "Its all about give and get policy" per example if you don't go to school you won't know your rights and noone will tell you anything. Think about our last law suit againt USCIS eventhough they know they have to adjust 10000 cases those lazy sometime adjust whatever number they want to.

Where did u get info that they've excluded asylees from backlog elimination? People with ND 2000-2001 are being approved now, even though the web site is not updated.

I agree with you Minsk.

As I wrote yesterday: "According to the approximate processing dates for adjustment of Status for Asylees a case with ND Jan-2002 should be processed by Oct. 2006 - Sep. 2007."

And they are doing it right now.

Wantmygcnow please be more positive

I will be more positive if they start approving 1999 cases and 2000 cases before they get to 2001. Its crazy that somoene who submitted in 1999(gino) or 2000(Lazer) would get approval same or after someone who submitted in 2001(me)...I wish i could be positive about USCIS but its frustrating because they dont even update that stupid 12/99 date...thats the date they talk about if you call them.

I sincerely believe that gino and lazer are in some sort of 'third-party' additional background checks. Remember they are using outside companies for background checks. I think one of them is windsor 'something' inc. or similar. Last week, my lawyer said that she has seen massive approvals that she did not see ever before. She did not say which years though. Also most of her clients are from former soviet block and south america.
