Background checking on citizenship apply

Hello,

I had my citizenship interview last week. I passed the exam, but the officer told me she could not grant the decision because my background checking is still pending. Is there anyone that has the same experience? I don't know why they scheduled the interview with unfinished background checking. How long will it take for the bg checking and what should I do? I found the FBI phone # from this site. Should I directly call FBI to find the status?

Same thing happened to me. My PD is 11/04/2005, finger print is done on 12/03/2005, interview was on 03/17/2005. I am still waiting for the oath letter. I am in SFO.
 
my case timeline

N400 filed on 11/2005, did fingerprint on 2/2006, interview on 3/22/2006, in TX center.

The strange thing is I got 2 inteview notice letters in two different dates, but the two letters contents are exactly same. Both letters scheduled a same interview date and time.

I had my interview on 6-30-05, and to date, no word. Several calls and personal visits to the local office (some 70 miles away!). But, no word on when will I get past this.
