Will I go through background check to apply for the citizenship? (because there is already one for greencard application).

Or it is just to send N400 and wait for interview notice? (no need wait for background check or fingerprint?) And how long it will take to get the interview notice?

Thanks!

You always have to go through background check (fingerprint and name check), when you make an application to the immigration authorities. This is particularly valid if you are not a citizen yet. So I think the answer to your question is yes.

Yes, you will have to go through a background check again for N-400.

The background check for N-400 includes the following:

1. Fingerprint background check (FBI rap sheet)
2. IBIS name check
3. FBI name check

The rap sheet will have a record if you have any arrest for immigration violation in the past even if you have no criminal records. This usually causes a little delay in the adjudication.

CLAIMS 4 system will automatically initiates IBIS name check and FBI name check and will automatically request your alien file from the last location that has your alien file. This happens when a system issues the receipt notice.

The system will also schedule you for a fingerprint appointment based on the availability of your local ASC office.

FBI name check still takes long time for some people.
