Shantanu, lots of people don't consider EAD = GC as far as job changes go.
When you buy a house, you get a lower APR if you are a GC holder.
When you put money in 401K or life insurance, you know you are going to stay here, in a higher probability, if you are a GC holder.
On a GC it is easier to travel back and forth between your home country and the USA.
On a GC you donot have to worry about asking your employer to give a day off for iEAD.
On a GC you don't have to worry about an RFE, and the rules changing and possibly not visiting this forum.
On a GC you know 5 years down the line you would be citizen or apply for it, and finally settle down here.
On a GC, you can work as a non-computer person, on a EAD you cannot.
The list is pretty darned long, and you cannot refute it.
