God, dear God, When will my 485 be approved? :( :(

Ok friends take on from here with your regular run of the mill woe stories.

Well now that the "Murthy issue" has been negatively resolved, everyone is sulking, my friend.

I think in an about year many of us should get approvals :D:D

The problem is we need to have a thing called 'job' ..
I hate that part. It is not BCIS, it is these Companies that are making the life miserable.

Had our jobs are not endagered, who cares about the delay ?

That's not quite true.. because with GC in hand, at least now you are more secure (with regards to your status in the U.S.) and can plan to do whatever you've been holding off...

Pending AOS - is a legal status ..

What more do you want ?

With EAD you can secure a job

Change your jobs after 180days .. if you want

What will be the problem then ?

Shantanu, lots of people don't consider EAD = GC as far as job changes go.

When you buy a house, you get a lower APR if you are a GC holder.

When you put money in 401K or life insurance, you know you are going to stay here, in a higher probability, if you are a GC holder.

On a GC it is easier to travel back and forth between your home country and the USA.

On a GC you donot have to worry about asking your employer to give a day off for iEAD.

On a GC you don't have to worry about an RFE, and the rules changing and possibly not visiting this forum.

On a GC you know 5 years down the line you would be citizen or apply for it, and finally settle down here.

On a GC, you can work as a non-computer person, on a EAD you cannot.

The list is pretty darned long, and you cannot refute it.

Here is my view about the different status:

485, EAD, AP (non-immigrant status in general) = Imprisonment

GC = Bail (due to restrictions on extended stay outside the US)

US Citizen = Actual freedom from BCIS clutches

I just cannot move to another apartment, because my EAD is pending for 8 months and I don't know will I receive it on a new place or not.

I cannot smoke pot, because if I'm caught, thats a misdemeanor, and they would transfer my case.

We all know every US citizen has smoked pot at sometime or the other in their lives.

SM,

u crack me up big time:) are u really being serious hehehe

Silly Man,

I think you can go to vancouver for the weekend (smoke some pot) and come back as I beleive it is legal in vancouver.

:D

killer, see without GC you are always worried about the validity of your AP .. and the mood of the entry officer ..

So yea you can go to vancouver, but you are still not as free as a citizen/GC holder would be.

But yea, now that you are going anyway .. smoke some extra on my side hehe :D:D (I can tell you a few other things that are illegal here, is your wife going with you?)

PS: I could go to Tijuana though, but I have no AP.
