Baby born in US during I-140...how to include in CP?

Hi All,
We are expecting a baby around the time it is expected that my I-140 will get cleared. So in order to travel to India for CP and then fly back to US (by God's grace everything should go well in India)
what should be the status with the new born baby. Since the child was born in US, it gets entitled to US citizenship Im presuming. But if I dont make a US passport for the child, how does it work to take the child along during CP and fly back? Do I need to include the child during the CP process? All suggestions highly appreciated.

Hi asharma,

When a child is born in USA, he/she will be a US citizen by birth. So to travel to India u have to have a US Passport with Indian Visa to take ur baby to India. Since he/she is a USA citizen u don't have to include in any of ur GC process. So don't worry about including ur baby in any of the process. Just apply for a USA passport after the birth and get the Indian visa and have a fruitfull trip to motherland.

The thing is that if I dont want my child to have the US citizenship and later on down the line I want child be able to travel to India as an Indian citizen then what should I do while applying for the CP process?

Your kid can continue with US citizenship as long as your family stays is US and then take Indian citizenship soon you get back to India. Getting Indian citizenship is not a battle cry. For your kid to visit to India, he/she should get passport and indian visa, I did the same for my kid..
