B2 Visa for Medical Emergency

Hi,

My dad might need to undergo a surgery in US. He is not in a good condition to walk.

Is he required to attend for the interview ? If required, can a relative accompany him into the interview ?

I will try calling the consulate in the morning. Meanwhile if anyone has any idea, please do post a reply.
