B2 Visa Automatically Extended if Filed for Perm Resident?

My wife (a Thai national on B2 Visa) and myself (US Citizen) are currently in the US. We knew each other in Thailand for nearly a year (worked doing tsunami relief) and were not engaged. UJpon her arrival as my family's guest, we fell in love and legally married here in the US last July. I spend 50% of my time in Thailand.

Chronology:

1. She arrived US on B2 visa May 2007
2. We married July 2007 in California
3. Returned together to Thailand Sept 2007
4. Returned to US together in Dec 2007 on B2 visa
5. I94 expires June 2008


My question is this: We are filling out forms for her Permanent Residence Status and I need to know that when we file, does it automatically allow her to stay in the US until the process is complete without extending her B2 visa? I know that because she is married to a US citizen, she automatically gets a visa number and can apply to work. (correct me if I'm wrong or misguided).

I am a patriot and will never circumvent the system, so we want to get accurate information and go thru the legal process.

4. Can she stay past her I94 expiration while process is pending without filing extension of stay?

You are correct, there is no quota on immediate relatives. She can apply for an I-131 with her I-485.
