Hi,
A friend of mine got a B2 visa to visit the united states. She has recently decided to look for some schools too and may apply for one during her stay here in the U.S. Therefore, if she receives the admission early enough she likes to change her visa while staying in the states (of course, without going out of status during the process of the exchange). Here are the questions. Please consider that she forgot to mention this intention during the interview at the US embassy.
1) Is it a good idea to tell the immigration officer at the port of entry that she may look for some schools during her visit?
2) Does the immigration officer consider her as a "prospective student" then, and write it in her I-94?
3)If the immigration officer denied writing "prospective student" on her I-94 (did not consider her as a prospective student) is it possible that she/he denies her entrance with that B2 visa for this reason as well?
There reason she is worried about this issue is that, she has heard if she has not the "prospective student" stated in her I-94, she will be denied changing her visa to F1(student visa) while staying in the united states holding her B2 visa.
Your kind help is highly appreciated
