I came to Canada as a student in the beginning month of 2002.
After completing my study courses in June 2003 I decided to visit my relatives in USA. I applied for the visa(Toronto) and came here thinking that I will spend 2months and go back to Canada(in Aug) to finish off my research study, required towards the completion of my Masters Degree. But I got a job in my field and applied for H1B.

I made arragements with my college in Canada to help me out to complete my research study in the USA as I got a job here. They agreed and I even got my H1B approval.

Now the problem is that I did not knew that I have to go for stamping once I change my status.

Now that I know that I have to go for an interview, I plan to go to Canada for H1B stamping (in June).

I would appreciate if some one can provide me their experience and give any suggestion in this matter.

Thanks.

You need a H1 stamp only if you need to travel out of US and come back.
See the experiences above, with a canadian or US degree getting the H1 stamp should not be a problem. check nvars.com for appointments in your city

Hello Applepie,
I am in the same situation. Came here on B1. Got H1 approved. Need to go for stamping. I heard that there are attorneys who assist you in stamping process. Do you know any info on this.
Can you post more information if you have any.

I see that there are not a lot of posts on this kind of scenario.

Thanks

MJ:)
