Need help...Situation is that i am canadian citizen and my parents are US permanent residents. They have filed I-130 for me.

I attend one of those Carribean medical school and our fifth semester + clinical rotations are held in US. I have just begun to look into immigration law as i need a visa right now and according to US immigration laws it seems that i may not be eligible for F1 due to that I-130 form (immigration intent).

All my hardwork upto now (plus 100K in debt) will be a waste if i can't get B2/F1 or J1. Am i really screwed up that big or am i just exaggerating. Can someone please help me here.

What if i fill out in DS-156 from Q.36 and Q.37 ---> that NO ONE have ever petitioned an immigrant visa for me and NO my parents are not in United states, respectively. Is there any way custom officers can find out.

Please help....I am really desperate and stressed out here.

Thank you for your input.

If you lie, you can kiss your chances of ever entering the US good-bye, either as a tourist, student, or resident. You will be banned for life.

Yes, it is a though one. Since you have an I-130 filled out for you, you have immigrant intent. I recommend you consult an immigration attorney that may be able to help you and guide you to the best kind of visa for what you plan to do.

If you are a Canadian citizen you do not need an F-1 visa. Just take the I-20 and approach the POE. If you qualify, you will get F-1 status. Canadian citizens only need non-immigrant visas if they are seeking entry under E or K statuses.

Check with your school's international student office. There are special rules for Canadian citizens working and studying in the U.S. you should be fine.

Do not lie about your I-130. They will certainly catch that, if not at the POE.
