B2 extension - Have not recd the "Receipt notice" yet.. Pls help

Hello,

I have applied for my Mother-in-law's visitor visa extension around 20th of October. Her I 94 is expiring on dec 20th (She has a 10 year multiple entry visa on passport). I have not recd a "Receipt Notice" from the INS - Vermont center. Is there a way to follow up on this as I do not have a "EAC..." number yet.

Also is it legal to stay beyond the Dec 20 date in this case as she plans to leave by middle of February (we have a copy of the I-94 as the original has been submitted with the application)...

If you have send your Payment by Check, then you can check your back account to see if BCIS has deposited the check. If your account shows application fee has been taken by BCIS it means that BCIS has accepted your application and you are safe. IF your bank returns you the check after the collection you can even find the EAC number on back of the check.
 
Unfortunately I paid by a Money Order from the post office.. Are there any contact phone / fax or email addresses available to followup.
