I and my wife wanted to invite her parents for a trip to visit us here. We had made all documents with the help of this forum and immihelp. Unfortunately, their visa got denied today. It is so sad.

A little background on them:
Retired Railway Assistant Commissioner and wife is house-wife
Aged 69 and 65
He has 3 children (One son+ 2 daughters) in India. My wife is the fourth child.
Son - married, working for an NGO, lives with his wife and my in-laws
One daughter - married, with one son and lives closeby
Other daughter - UNMARRIED, LIVES WITH MY IN-LAWS
He draws monthly pension (for which he has to be show his physical presence every 6 months)
He has a credit card, bank account...
(Only drawback - no property in their name)

Eventhough we prepared their application and supporting documents very well (we even included an affidavit about the above things), their application was denied under 214(b).

The visa officer asked: (He just took their passports and DS-156 forms - NOTHING ELSE)

Where are you going?
Response: Maryland, to visit our daughter and family

Why are you going?
Response: To visit our daughters family and also for tourism purposes

Who is sponsoring your trip?
Response: Our daughter

When did your daughter go to the US?
Response:June, 2005

How many children you have in India?
Response: 3 (they also said about the unmarried daughter, daughter-in-law who stays with them, DID NOT tell about the other married daughter.... I THINK THEY GOT NERVOUS)

What does your son do?
Response: Business

Then, he just gave them back their passports and the denial notice. He did not ask for any further documents. They are very depressed and so are we about the whole interview.

We are planning to ask them to go for an interview again. I request your valuable suggestions in this regard:

1. Can they go within a week of the first denial? Or should be wait for longer time?

2. Can they request a Tamil interview now? Will the previous interview in English affect the Tamil one? Does it help at all - interview in Tamil.

3. Any other documents/evidences should be sent?

Thank you very much for your kind responses.

There is no "minimum wait period" for a 214(b) based denial. Your in-laws can re-apply the very next day if they want. The choice of language for the interview will not help (atleast in my opinion) in overcoming 214(b). I would advise just your mother-in-law to apply next time. She may be approved since she has a better (compared to the last time) reason to come back to, i.e. her husband.
Good luck!!!
