I'm a full time PhD student in Scotland. I'm from China and my student visa in UK will expire at the end of November 2007. I'm going to Philadelphia from 2nd to 9th August to attend an academic conference. I have registered in the conference but not booked the flight and accommodation yet.
I have checked the visa application webiste and found that I need to "Present a passport or other travel document valid for at least six months beyond the holder's period of stay in the United States". It seems that my visa in UK can only be 3 months beyond my period of stay in U.S. Would this be a problem of my application? I would really appreciate if anyone can provide a checklist of what I need to prepare for the application and interview.
