B1 US Visa help

This is Shoban from chennai. I would really appreciate if someone could help me on this.
I would be attending the visa interview (B1) within the next 2 weeks.I was rejected for b1 visa in Nov-2007. Now the issue is I have misplaced the letter that they give when the reject and I dont remember under what clause I was rejected. I dont know what to answer them when they ask "why where you rejected earlier". Is there any way to track by using your passport # or some other way. Pls advice. I'm desperate here. Thank you in advance.

Answer truthfully that you do not remember the number on your rejection notice. Don't stress. Many people receive a visa after a rejection when they are better able to overcome the VO's concerns.

"I cannot remember" is a perfectly acceptable answer.
