B1/B2 Visa for tourism and short courses

Hi,

I'm planning a short vacation in the USA next summer, and I would like to include some English classes to improve my English abilities.

So can I do it under B1/B2 visa ? (tourist visa), because as far as I know, I am able to attend part-time classes that are not more than 18 hours weekly under tourist visa, and I'm not sure about it.

If so, should they annotate the visa or mark it for a short study or just by having a tourist visa I am automatically eligible for taking short courses?

And should I mention it to the consular officer when applying for the B1/B2 visa?

Any input is appreciated :)
Thanks

It all depends on the institution where you intend to study. Ask them if their overseas students attend classes on B-2 or F-1 visas.
No harm is mentioning this at your consular interview.

And should I mention it to the consular officer when applying for the B1/B2 visa?

Thanks for your reply ..

I sent an email to them .. and they replied with the following:

You may study on a tourist visa as long as your intent is to learn language only. If you plan to change to F-1, you should not come here to study on a tourist visa at all. You should change your status before you arrive.

I just want to take a four-week course.. my primary goal is tourism.. I need to be aware of the laws regarding this matter and whether if the visa shall be marked for tourism and short study or no
