B1 application with prior H1 and F1 visas.

Hello,

I used to live in the US earlier on an F1 and then H1 visa. I have now returned to India. My employer here would like me to apply for a B1 visa for a short trip to the US. Does the fact that I was earlier on F1 or H1 visa affect my application in any positive or negative manner?

Secondly, I was born in Mumbai and got my earlier F1 and H1 visas from Mumbai. But my co. has applied for my interview at Chennai because I now live in Hyderabad (where to co. is based). Is that OK or am I supposed to apply in Mumbai only?

it will affect you only if you were out of status at any time during your stay.
Carry all documentation relating to your stay in US earlier.

You can apply in Chennai as that is the consulate with jurisdiction over your state.
