Reco letters for NIW and EB1-OR

Hi Guys,

Can u tell me if I can use the same reco letters to file under both the categories ( ofcourse I will remove the NIW words for EB1). or Do I have to modify them completely for the second category.

Actually I have already asked for reco's from many scientists and now can't go back and ask them for so many modifications.

I have another question - do I need reco's from outside USA to apply for EB1-OR or from within USA ( both from known and unknown guys in the field ) will suffice?

Thanks

How old are your recos?? Are they within six months?? How you are going to change NIW word in the reco lett to EB1. If you can is best??

My recos are very recent, I am still in the process of receiving them. What I meant was I can ask the my referees to sign another version of the letter without national interest wordings ( as this is not that big deal for them and soem of them have agreed to it too) but I can't ask them to modify it more than that or ask them to incorporate soem other critical wordings in case their is this kind of difference in letter style of the two categories.

Do we have to submit these letters in original or phocopies are also acceptable ( I was thinking for those who won't sign a second copy)

Okay first why do you need to have them mention anything about NIW in the recco letters? My recco letters just said "I would recommend....bal blah blah....for his permanent residency application"......that way you dont mention anything and avoid soups like this.

Second yes you can use the same letters for both applications as i had field for both EB1-EA and EB2-NIW at the same time with the same letters. Now since my lawyer filed the application I have no idea how they sent the same letters to two forms. Maybe one was a copy. Although I DID have to send the ORIGINAL LETTERS to my lawyer. I have only kept one copy.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Kulbikr,
I will use the same letters for both. since you have applied in both the categories, may I ask you what is the major difference in the checklist for both categories. I noticed that ur EB1 is aproved while no info about NIW. Did u submit both the petition to TSC or were they transferred to TSC from NSC?

Again for 485, is HepB shot compulsory. I am asking because it normally takes 6 months to get the full course, so do i have to take the whole course (3 set of shots) before filing 485?

Can U also give details about ur application. My details are - postdoc in a well knwon institute, have >10 publications in top journals like nature genetics, genes & development etc, have very good citations (>250, one paper has 150 citations)) and also news views articles about my papers, member AACR, have 5 small fellowship awards ( 2 from US, 3 from europe), 12 recos - 6 known . 6 unknown but no big awards or direct reviewer experience (although have reviewed couple of papers for boss).
Just wanted to know if I have a chance in EB1-OR

My NIW case has also been approved two weeks back but needless to say it is pretty much a back up right now. I am not so sure about the checklist since my lawyer submitted the documents. Sorry about that but I am one of those people who prefers the lawyers do all the stuff as long as it is working dont fix it...lol. My petitions were directly submitted to TSC. Even though I work in an area where NSC would take care of it normally....not sure how that works.

I am a doctor from India and I had had my HEPB before I came here and I had the paperwork for that but i am sure you dont really need to take it here unless you will be exposed to HEPB anytime during your work period. Only MMR and Tetanus is what i took. Your civil surgeon's office should know what to do.

I think you can apply for an EB1EA.....! I am MD PhD but I have about 7-8 pubs no grants I had good reccos from Harvard, Yale and such. I have newspaper citings but nuthing national. Good citations but no high profile journals.....yet the disease i work with affects a lot of americans and is of national importance maybe that worked for me. Frankly speaking I submitted only reccos + numerous internet print out about my work and my reprints of my pubs thats it. I would say get a good lawyer and go for EB1-EA. GOOD LUCK

Hey,
Texas-NIW mentioned high profile papers, such as Nature Genetics and so on.
I am wondering what your experience is: how much do you think the reviewer of the application knows about science? Do they actually know the difference between a Nature paper or a low-impact journal?
I assume that I have to be very general in the description of my work and not use scientific language, which often makes it more difficult to describe the importnace of the findings. How scientific can I be? And, it seems to me that it is not so importnat if your findings are very menaingful theoretically regarding biological principles, but that it is more important to emphasize medical benefits?

if you were asking this few years back i would have said that they don't know about impact factor and or citations....but now BCIS guys know about impact factors and citations very well..............

you have to play words which appear more scientific buit still understandable to normal guy!

but yes now BCIS officers are really smart!
i was surpise to see RFEs and denial messages for some of my colleauges. They were real technical and scientific

That is very good to know since this can help in deciding for them the merit of the case. Also I would assume everyone knows about Nature and Science journals...
