My boyfriend (Estonian living in Germany) was recently rejected for a tourist visa at the US embassy in Munich. The primary reason was lack of proof that he will leave the US after his visit, since he has no work contract and they say being enrolled as a student is not "sufficient proof".
As US citizens, my family and I are willing to fill out an I-134 "Affidavit of Support" form on his behalf, however, would this help his cause? Or would he still be considered a potential illegal immigrant?
Is there anything I or my family can to do claim responsibility for his return to Germany after his visit? We'll be traveling to and from Germany together and I will accompany him throughout his entire visit in the US?
Is there anything else that can be done? I find it hard to believe that nobody without a work contract isn't allowed a tourist visa to the US!
