B-2 Visa Hotel Question

Hello,

I have someone applying for a B-2 Visa and plans on going to New York. They want to book a hotel in New Jersey. Will this be an issue? Should this raise any questions during the interview process? The city they are booking is approximately 40 minutes away from NYC. They do have plans on going to NYC and other cities like Philadelphia. They just fear they will be questioned about this location of the hotel during the interview and scared it will cause them to get rejected. Thank you!

Unlike India and Pakistan, the US issues visas for the entire country, not just cities :)
You will be fine!!!

Well they will need to use this booking of the hotel as proof for the purpose of their trip. They will need to show they booked a hotel in the United States, but they might get questioned why they booked it in an obscure city. That is the concern. Also this is from Kazakhstan, and I don't know how strict they are. We are just worried if they are shown a city which isn't New York, they might start questioning and might deny.

You are being paranoid :) There are tons of people who work everyday in NYC and return to obscure cities in NJ to go to bed :)

Well, I am not the one paranoid so much, but yes I agree with you. I would think it should be fine, but I wish I had some way of confirming this. Do you think we should risk this? We are just worried, but I think yes it sounds like over paranoia, I just hope they don't start questioning why a particular city, and why not just stay in a hotel in NY.

no offense meant, if that kind of question is asked cant we as applicants reply that, that particular hotel had good reviews and was cheaper?

This is what I thought also. I mean it isn't a lie. The reason for the location is so they can also go to other cities, not just New York. I guess there is paranoia...
