Hi,

I am an Indian. I got my B-1 Visa to visit Company X in USA(The companys name is marked in my Passport with 16 Months validity from 1, June,2005 to Sep 20,2006) at Bern, switzerland as a part of knowledge transfer/research (before starting my Ph.D in switzerland). I stayed in USA from 2nd June, 2005 to 20th Nov, 2005(close to 6 months - as mentioned in my I-94, I havent violated any rule). Later, I returned to switzerland on 21st Nov. Meanwhile, I changed my plan not to pursue Ph.D, because, I felt getting into Industry is advisable. Hence I opted to do a job in India from Dec 13th onwards, where I am presently employed.

Couple of days back , I got a mail from Company X saying that they are interested in hiring me for the coming H-1B quota(2006). In this regard, I have few queries. Since, I have valid B-1 with Company X till Sep, 2006. Does it affect my H-1B stamping with the same company , though I am in India ?

If My H-1B is accepted, what happens to my B-1 ? will it be cancelled automatically ?

Eagerly Looking for your response.

Regards,
Suresh

B does not affect your H1 stamping.. H1 approval should not affect B as well, but sometimes consulate invalidate old visa stamp( which they should not do)
