Awaiting on I-485 - need help EAD expiring

Hi folks!

I’ve been told of this site not too long ago and it’s great. I do have a problem and I didn’t know who to turn to…my lawyer sure ain’t helping me much.

Here’s the deal:

A year ago, we applied for the 485 in Vermont, and received notice on 01/08/01…everything was going smooth till November 2001 where I received a RFE asking for an employment letter which was sent and received on November 23, 2001. As of today, I’m still awaiting on the approval but here’s the PROBLEM. My EAD card is about to expire on 02/14 and I don’t have a current H-1B visa because my lawyer told me that we didn’t have to renew it because of the EAD card…., My lawyer also forgot to tell me that I had to renew my EAD card 90 days before it expires even though I had been asking her what to do because it was expiring. I live in San Jose and don’t really know what to do…..Does anyone have any suggestions, can someone help me…

Quick question pg485.....

Can I go to the San Jose one even though the paperwork for the 485 were submitted in Vermont including my current EAD card? What do I take to the local INS?
 
Do as follows:

Go to your local INS (not vermont) office with your EAD and 485 receipt. You will get it right on the day. Good luck.
 
Stamping at San Jose

Hi Friends,

Does any one know how early we need to go to the INS Office in San Jose? Some people indicated to me that you need to bre there very early in the morning around 4:00A.M. Is this true? My Application for adjustment of status is approved and I was asked to go to the San Jose office for the necessary stamping.

Planning to go tomorrow! I too heard you got to get there early, going around 5am (there\'s no way I\'m going at 4am), it opens at 7am. Will let you know!
 
Updated on local INS office

Went this morning to the local INS office in San Jose. Stood in line from 5am till 8:10am, passed security and went to the information desk where the officer rejected my application due to the fact that my entire file is from Vermont and not from San Jose. San Jose can not renew EAD cards if the 485 is being filed elsewhere...

Stamping at San Jose

Does one idea as to how early you need to be there at the INS - San Jose office for the final greencard stamping

Any recent expreiences is highly appreciated.
