Australian Police Check Questions

Hello Everyone.

Can someone here please clarify the requirements as I'm a bit confused about the correct way to go about the Police Check....

The following DV Selectee Instructions apply to me / us:

1)
IF the applicant…
is living in their country of nationality at their current residence for more than 6 months

AND…
is 16 years old or older

THEN the applicant needs a police certificate from…
the police authorities of that locality.

2)
IF the applicant…
lived in a different part of their country of nationality for more than 6 months

AND...
was 16 years or older at that time

THEN the applicant needs a police certificate from…
the police authorities of that locality.

My Questions are:
1) I have lived at multiple addresses since the age of 16, back and forth between two states and in different towns / areas ....
Do I need a separate Police Check for each address ?

2) Do I need to get A Police Check through the local Police of each area, or do I need a National Police Check through the Australian Federal Police ?

3) Is anyone able to tell me exactly which form/s I need ?

Thanks Guys. :)

My understanding is that ordinarily, you would need police checks for each state in which you have lived. However, regardless of which state police authority you apply to, all Australian police checks cover all states, so you just need one. Easiest would be to get one from the AFP: http://ww.afp.gov.au/what-we-do/police-checks/national-police-checks.aspx - that should cover you.

What I'm not sure about is whether you need just a criminal record check or if you also need a fingerprint check. Perhaps someone else could shed a bit of light on that?

Hiya, I did have some questions about the AUS police checks myself...and someone replied to me in another thread stating that for overseas visa purposes (Aussie applying for AFP police check for non-Australian visa authorities), the fingerprints are necessary. We have lived in multiple countries in Europe and in AUS, and no other country requires the finger prints and is as expensive when it comes to the police checks...Australia charges a crazy $139 or in our case $99 plus the cost of having the finger prints done through local authorities (which will therefore be a similar total amount).
Compare that to many nations in Europe where police checks attract fees ranging from NIL to $20 max. Many do charge for fingerprinting though, too.

Thanks Guys....
I was thinking it would be the AFP Check....
I've got the form: AFP NPC Form-5021

Is anyone able to confirm this as the correct form ?

Cheers. :)

I took a quick look back at older Aussie DV threads and even those living in Oz got checks based on name and fingerprints.

If you've lived all over Oz, just get the AFP one and enter all your prior addresses on their form. States won't do interstate checks.
