Australian Chances At DV-2011

Hi all,
This is my first time applying to the DV lottery-i have been reading these forums and only just decided to join up.
I have tried to find a thread/post on the chances of individual countries at receiving visas and number of allocated visas.
I was wondering is it a certain % of visas go to each country or its it by region, ie. Asia, Oceania, Europe etc?

I was just wondering what type of odds i would have being an Australian in the lottery (hope these questions aren't asked frequently -im sure they are!)
And also how they sort out how many visas go to which countries.

Australia is a low-admission state in the low-admission Oceania region.

The best I could tell the probability of a New Zealand or Australian-based applicant winning each year was somewhere between 0.5% and 0.8%

Chances to win in DV-2011 from Australia were 1.07% (1 win per 93 entries)

If you are married, you can halve the odds by both entering. I won on my 1st attempt, and it costs nothing to enter so just have a go, providing you meet the requirements.

This was the second time my wife and I applied and my wife won this year. Just got the visa last month and will be heading off in May just waiting for the Aussie dollar to get stronger and keep earning the AUD before heading over. The guy at the embassy said Australians are about a 1 in 3 chance of winning when we were there but I think it is a lot less than that. Funny though all Aussies I have spoken to that have got it it was on their first attempt.
