I am starting an N-400 Timeline. If anyone has gotten their N-400 processed recently in the Austin/San Antonio area, I would appreciate some information too.

06/23/2005: Sent in N-400 application from Austin TX by USPS Express to Mesquite Service Center
06/24/2005: USPS tracking says INS personnel signed for receipt of application

N400 sent : June 10, 2005
Priority Date (PD) : June 13, 2005
Finger Print Date: July 15, 2005 :)

Got a letter back from immigration earlier this week, I'm scheduled to be finger printed on July 15. Wow, it only takes approx. a month from PD. I live in Austin and the finger print will take place in San Antonio.

07/11/2005: Received 2 letters from USCIS, Both of which are I-797Cs postmarked July 8th, 2005.
First I-797C is a notification of receipt, and includes a "Missing Evidence(s)" exception.
Second I-797C is fingerprint notice, it schedules me to be fingerprinted on July 21st, 2005.

I am pretty sure that I included everything that was needed. And I noticed on some discussions that some people never get the letter requiring them to bring anything to the interview. Does anyone know about this?

I received the "missing evidence" note as well. I have two traffic citations, which I mentioned in the application, so perhaps I will have to provide evidence that they were disposed of.

I sent in a DPS certified form that says I have paid all my tickets along with the N-400. You can request it online at the DPS site. Remember to request a complete history. :)

Good luck, Keiko! Please post your interview experience when you are done, esp. your oath date.

Interviewed today with officer #35. He was really nice, although somewhat overloaded with work and I had to wait a while.

Your photo should be without glasses, and you cannot smile or show teeth.

My name check is not complete yet, so he told me it may be six months, even up to one year. But I passed the test. It is a list of 7 questions from the 100 questions posted on the USCIS website, and write "I want to be an American." on a piece of paper.

He specifically told me that they expect the name check to at least last for six months, starting today!!!

Although I have a name that is somewhat common, I cannot believe that they are taking so long.

The officer called me personally today. And told me that the FBI namecheck has been passed. He asked me if I wanted to go to the oath ceremony scheduled in San Antonio this Thursday. Of course I said yes. Apparently, he was really nice and submitted my paperwork at the last minute to get me into the oath ceremony.

08/19/2005: Received interview letter
09/23/2005: interview in San Antonio
09/24/2005: officer called, said oath letter is too late to be sent, told me to pick up the letter at the USCIS office in San Antonio a couple hours before the oath ceremony
09/29/2005: oath date

Looking back at it, it probably helps that I have a Texas concealed handgun license. The license requires a FBI namecheck/background check, and a Texas DPS namecheck. It might be that, having already passed the namechecks once, the process can be sped up.

Also, the license application and background check process takes only a month.

My name is a common English name, and my last name is a common name. So here is some thought.

Hurray for 2nd Amendment. :)

Keiko,

Congratulations on passing the namecheck and taking the oath. Looking at your dates, my wife was at the same oath ceremony in San Antonio.

I had my interview last Wednesday and passed. :) I have a CHL as well, but that did not come up one way or the other.

I am awaiting an appointment letter for my own oath ceremony. No word yet on when that will be.
