August 2002 Tracker

I Justed walked in to the INS office. Officer did question about the appointment date, but informed that I will be out of country by that time (actually I am leaving to India this weekend). They accepted. I believe we should convince them with a valid reason as I showed the Air Tickets.
 
FP Notice received

Hi All,

I have received FP notice for me and my wife. It is scheduled on 10/24. But the problem is my wife is in India and we are all coming back on 11/16. In the FP notice they have mentioned that if I can not make the scheduled date then I can try on any Wednesday followed by 10/24 till 01/16/2003.

So my question is Do I need to wait and both(me and my wife )can go for FP after returing from India? OR I can go on the mentioned date and she can go later? If yes what will be the consequences?

One of my friend has the same problem, when finger print notice came they were in India and I picked up the mail.

They went on following wednesday day after comming back as mentioned in FP notice, they had no problem. As far as I known you should not have any problem.

I may be in same situation after a few days, as I am scheduled to visit India. Can U pls tell me if it's the same kind of letter for FP for all states which allows FP on any wed(or whicever day of the week) after a particular date? Where r u located?

Hi Tara,

I am located in VA-Ricmond. The INS office I will be going for FP is in Norfolk VA. Infact I am thinking of doing my FP first and when my wife comes back we will do for her. I am leaving end of next month and coming back in Mid-Nov. So I am shooting for Nov-20 for my wifes FP.

As u r also located at MA, I request u to post the exact instructions reg. FP as mentioned on your FP Notice. I am asking this bcoz I heard the FP Notices vary from state to state depending on the local INS Office, even though we may all file I-485 at VSC.I guess your local INS Office would be Boston INS office.

It would be of great help if u gave the exact language of the FP Notice, bcoz I am scheduled to visit India, so I want to be sure that INS Boston does allow a 90day period( after the FP date mentioned on the FP Notice) to get finger-printed just incase one can't make it on the date stated on the FP Notice.

Thats a great news,,, atleast u dont have to wake up 6 am to find the line busy just like every other day,,,

As for myself,, I applied on Aug. 22nd found out that INS received it a day before, Aug 21 st. And I thought, Hanaluiyyaaa,, there is a god,,, Miracle does happen when republicans are in power!!!!

yes. i need to go to boston INS office for FP. Here i am giving the exact text that is there in my FP notice.

"To process your application, INS must take your fingerprints and have them cleared by FBI. PLEASE APPEAR AT THE BELOW APPLICATION SUPPORT CENTER AT THE DATE AND TIME SPECIFIED. If you are unable to do so, complete the botton of this notice and return the entire original notice to the address below. RESCHEDULEING YOUR APPOINTMENT WILLL DELAY YOUR APPLICATION. IF YOU FAIL TO APPEAR AS SCHEDULED BELOW OR FAIL TO REQUEST RESCHEDULING, YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE CONSIDERED ABANDONED."
 
So FP Notices are really different for people in VA and MA!!

Prem1999, thanks a lot for giving the text of your FP Notice. This clearly shows that the FP Notice received by REFI140 in VA is totally different from the one received by you in MA.

REF140's FP Notice allows him to go on any wednesday within a 2 month or so time-period incase he can't make it on the date specified.
So that means in MA we won't get that time-period of 2mths within which any wed we can go. How pathetic!! Then what option am I left with? As advised by someone here, can I ask my lawyer to send his original copy and reschedule it for me when I am not here? Someone pls advise, I can't cancel my India trip now.

Is it true that if you re-schedule your FP, you will lose few months in the processing? is that a mere assumption or a fact?
 
you can re-schedule your Fingerprints, your lawyer should mail your FP notice for rescheduling, Lawyer should sent the copy that he/she recieved.

If you go personaly to reshedule they may tell you to get finger printed.

You dont loose any think by rescheduling , it is not fact, your FP will be sent to FBI then to VSC or service centre, many delay because they have to bring spouse on H4 or going out of US on particular date.
My lawyer told me that it does not delay the process becase normaly Case is assigned to officer after about 30-40 days and it remains on the shelf, when the get FP report from FBI it is attached to your file.

Many saw in August that so many Files were transfred to Baltimore in August from VSC, the reason for that was the Baltimore requested VSC that if the wish they can send some files to them.
