When I talked to one IIO the other day, he sounded pretty sure that they can initiate inquiries once it passes 26 months' mark.

Still under name check, that's what the congressman's staff told me. Was told name check has been there for 12 + months.

Please contact your senator with your case. Please mention how
later applicants are being approved (get the statistics from paul
clarke's thread), how the processing time has remained stuck
in August 2001, and the type of hardship it is causing you. A
senator is more influential than a congressman.

name check may just be a guise, the case may have become COLD.

It does not matter; talk is cheap. The Senate is not called the greatest deliberative body in the world for nothing! They all suffer from the same compulsive need for pompous, self-righteous discourse (much the same as me here, you would suggest!), but when push comes to shove, aquiesce quietly to the guy with the stick on pennsylvania avenue.

There is hope. We were in the same boat. We filed in July 2001. Just got approved on Dec 23. We did not notice the approvals until Dec26, a little late to have a nice Christmas, but it is OK.

We prayed, so did our parents in China. Patience, pray and strong belief in your family may help you to live through the most difficult time.
