Subject: Attention required! High priority message!
Body:
Hello Dear Sir,
I'm among those selected for the US DV Lottery 2012, i'm one of the 22000 disappointed persons that received a notification via your website http://dvlottery.state.gov/ and got selected and immediatly started to proceed in sending the forms to KCC.
I'm sorry about what happen, but there is no excuse of this BIGGEST mistake, it's a shame for the US to be in this situation, many people counted on the hope to get selected but between a night and another, we discovered that you voided the previous results. Most importantly, they had time to check these results! how is it possible that they didn't check!
I was among the 22,000 chosen, crying with joy when I read the confirmation that I was in the running for a visa provided my personal history was up to US standards. Having spent the past 12 days trying to piece together dates for every visit to the US since I was a child, I learned about the glitch today when calling a wonderfully helpful lady at the Kentucky Consular Center for assistance. It's tough to describe the crushing sense of loss and disappointment I felt when reading the message on the website she directed me to. Tonight is a sad night for us and our families. I wish I could think of a joke about computer glitches, but somehow, nothing comes to mind.
Rather than dashing the hopes of so many people, those notified should be granted the visas but on a delayed schedule. Just add 10,000 to the number of people allowed in each year over a five year period and take 20% of those mistakenly granted visas in each of those 5 years. It was your error, not ours.
The Department of State just gave in to some conspiracy theorists, who threatened to scandalize the program because of perceived unfairness in selecting winners. Many of us have taken steps towards processing. For many of the participants in countries with low incomes even these steps are a considerable monetary loss.
Thank you very much.
