As many of you may be knowing, we prepared a petition to expedite the 485 process and have submitted to BCIS. We are planning to meet local congress representatives to submit our petition. I would like to appeal to all the Atlantans to gather and personally hand over the petition to the Congress representatives.

I would like to know your thoughts.

We can use PRIVATE MESSAGING to exchange private information, like e-mail, phone# etc.
 
I am not keen to take any action if I am convinced that your intentions are good.

My approval may be around the corner. The idea of approaching the senator/congress person is to present them with the petition we have developed and ask them to lobby on our behalf. If you look at the other threads at VSC, you will find out that some are sending the petition to media, some to attorneys and some to senators. This petition may help me (I doubt it very much though), but it will certainly help people waiting for a long time. It may help in the citizenship process too. What do I get - a feeling that I have helped other people, if not myself.
 
VSC petition in TSC?

Please explain to me why you are posting this here? if your petition is pending in VSC, you should post in the VSC forum. Please dont take advantage of already battered TSC applicants.

luta, I was just replying to your message where you talked about the intentions.

I am sorry if you have misunderstood me. I understand people at Texas Service Center have been waiting for a long time. My waiting for almost 24 months may be miniscule compared to long-time waiters here.

As you know a petition has been prepared for all service centers to reduce the backlogs. The petition was already sent to INS and some media outlets. The next step is to send it to congress representatives/senators. I thought it will be a good idea to approach our local politicians and submit the petition personally. Since the election year is coming up and Bush has promised to reduce the backlog to 6-months, there is a greater chance the politicians can do something now.

Extra Impact - Hand Delivered to Congressional Office

I used http//www.congress.org Extra Impact service to hand deliver(by western union) our petition to my local Congresssional Office. It's paid service, just nominal fee of $10 for 3 mails.

Our petition was hand delivered to following offices:
Representative Joseph Knollenberg (R-MI 9th)
Senator Carl Levin (D-MI)
Senator Debbie Stabenow(D-MI)
