I have filled the petition for the green card and sent my application to Texas Service Center on April 2002. By reading my last bank statement I found that INS already cash my check ( application fee, $555) at 05/11/2002. But I so far do not receive any information from INS. I am wondering if it is normal? If anyone is in the same boat, please post your timeline and personal experience.

Thanks for your help.

Atlanta local office

I filed for my AOS/EAD from Atlanta local office in febuary 18th 2002. I got my EAD on the 10th of april and my receipt notice on the 1st of may. Since then there has been nothing new. I hope this helps.

Information needed !!

1. Where do I check the Status of this case? Which center?
2. Which forum discusses these types of cases?
3. Which PD are they processing right now?
Thanks

Experience

I have applied in last week of January 2002 for family based green card.

Got a receipt in 10 days.

Got travel documents in about 2 months.

Never got the EAD till now.

Last week (last week of May i.e., in 4 months)
Have been called for an interview for fingerpriting on June 8th.
Have been called for an interview for AOS on June 25th.

I would say, be patient and forget about it.
You will be pleasantly surprised once the docs come in the mail.

Later

call for interview, not informed by letter?

the processing time of your case is quite impressive. I have a question: INS informed you to interview by phone or by mail. I am just not quite sure the meaning of " call for". one explanation could be "phone someone", another could mean " require, demand". Sorry to ask this "stupid" question.

Thank you, Madhusudan Chaganthi

Some Question !!

Daveh

I hope you dont pose these kind of questions to the INS

INS has always sent me mail regarding these interviews, etc.

Shall I specify it as "unregistered postal-mail"? If not, you might come back and ask me was it email or regular mail? Was it fedex or was it ....?
(;-)

All correspondence has been through unregistered postal mail as is the case with INS.

Good Luck

To Madhu

I want to ask you something regarding your receipt notice. What time period was mentioned on your Receipt notice for the processing of your I-485 application.
My receipt notice says that it will be processed " no later than 36 months". That\'s 3 years. Is\'nt that too much. Please tell the time period in your case.
Thanks.

Timelines

Willy

These are time frames from the receipt I recieved.

30 days for Travel Document

90 days for EAD

36 months for AOS interview

I believe these time frames are standard on all receipts. Based on case to case, actual times will differ.

Re: Hello

Atlanta.

This information might be helpful for some.
I came here for my master\'s in 1996.
Worked on OPT for almost an year after graduating. Thats when I was given a temporary EAD. I mentioned that number too in the 485 application.
Started my GC via employment.
Got married to a US citizen.
Started my GC via marriage.
Got through LCA etc and was about to file for I-140 when I got these calls via the marriage processing.

what my lawyer told me about the timeline

quoted from the email my lawyer sent to me:

"Receipt can take up to three months. Travel takes 30-40 days and EAD takes 70-90 days."

Reg: Experience

Got my fingerprinting done on Saturday. Took less than 45 minutes for the whole thing. They are very efficient.

Will keep you posted as and when the events unfold.

Thanks

I had my AOS interview yesterday and it went just fine. After going through the documents and the questions, the officer stamped my passport with the Conditional Permanent Residency stamp.

I should be getting the real one in 6-8 weeks via mail.

Thats about it. I guess I will be meeting some of you in the Citizen forum in due time.

Good Luck

congratulations

Congratulations on getting your AOS. Can you tell me mainly what documents are we supposed to take to the interview?

I just got my EAD interview notice today, can anyone help me with it?

I just got my EAD interview notice today, I will have an interview the day after tommorow. it takes 90 days to get the EAD interview notice( I submitted application on the late April 2002).

Which kind of question INS officer will ask during the interview? How long it takes ususally? Beside of passport, EAD interview notice letter, what documents need to be brought in during the inerview.

Thanks

I got EAD today

hi, i got my EAD today, the whole process at INS only takes 28 minutes. the INS officer just asked you to show the your passport and took a picture, after a few minnutes, the EAD card is ready. done! so nothing to worry about EAD interview.
