AD - 7/16/99 (after exactly 22 months of RD). Came to know after I rec\'d the approval notice for both of us in mail today.
Lawyer was very helpful in contacting senator (Senator Smith\'s office in Oregon was contacted during middle of June - INS first said that the priority dates are not available - lawyer clarified and told that it was available. INS asked the senator\'s aide to contact in 30-60 days if we did not hear anything). I called the IIO only once (lucky to get the line in 10 mins) and that was about 10 days back - IIO said that they were putting a rush on 99 cases and should hear something in 6-8 weeks. She did not seem to know much about my case in general. My lawyer set a deadline of Aug 1st to contact the senator\'s office again if we did not hear again.
My lawyer was very helpful (I just used him from the 485 stage) in expediting AP\'s and EAD\'s whenever it was necessary through the senator\'s office. I also want to thank the senator\'s office for their efforts.
Any experience towards passport stamping in Portland OR would be appreciated.
Funny that I have a Ph.D and my wife has a master\'s degree and we had to go through my wife (as it was faster!!) and take the long route of EB3 which was not long compared to a lot of people. Hang in there folks, your time will come.
Myladoor, please update my profile in immitracker - it is harinibrk.
Thanks
Ramakrishnan
