Dear everyone,

What is the time period for asylum to get a green card and a citizenship? Is the law still the same in the era of OBAMA?

As for asylee, will he/she never able to go back to one's own country again even when the country's policy has changed?

Those asylum status/background would hinder or affect one's entire life when he gets into highly respected position in one's career?

Sincerely

You can always travel back to your country of claimed persecution but you need to be prepared to document that your reason for return was valid. Otherwise, you risk your asylum case being re-opened and re-examined for possible fraud. Also, once you become a US citizen, you can freely travel to and from your former country of citizenship.

Thanks, vdostoi1. However, those people no longer be the citizenship of their own countries again, right? Or dual citizenship?

Can somebody answer me the other two questions please?

US allows dual citizenship. If your country of origin allows dual or multiple citizenships, then you will retain its citizenship.
