Asylum victory

The Senate did a good thing today. It passed an Intelligence bill that will protect us all from new terrorist atacks. Another good thing is that the vicious red necks republicans failed to include a provision that could have destroyed asylum. They promised to revisit the issue again next year but I believe they will fail again.

Hey Shamshon, thanks for sharing this with us. Do you have any details about the provision?

Bad bad republicans.....

Yes Shamshon Please tell us more about the provision that could have destroyed asylum from those redneck republicans.

The bill would have drastically elevated the evidentiary burdens of proof for asylum applicants. It would also have created a federal rule saying licenses for asylees would be only valid for one year.

Here is the eloquent answer from the best expert in this forum. Welcome back Gilbert. We all missed you. It is important to note that the Nazis in Congress want to revive this provision in the next congressional session. Rather than trying to make it easier for immigrants, these haters wanted to make it harder for those who apply for asylum. God help us and may they always lose. Guess what? Those who insisted on this sick provision were all Republicans (no exceptions)

Damn, its good to see you are back Gilbert

Gilbert we missed your expert opinions. Please try to visit us all whenever you can. You are one of the very few people I trust and have a great deal of respect.
Two quick questions;
1. Would this bill affect in any way who are already asylees. Even if they make ayslum evidentiary very strict?
2. As an asylee with I485 pending. I'm thirty one years old now. I turned 26 the same year when I arrived here, few months after I came here. Does this Selective Service registration applies to me?
Your comments are greatly appreciated.

The Selective Service has a wealth of information on its website. Check it out.

The only effect of the proposed bill on granted asylees would probably be on the driver's license issue--you would need to renew that every year.
