Asylum policy & eligibility?

Please give me a couple of minutes to read my story and help me...

I am a citizen of a third world country and a permanent resident of a first world country. I am currently holding F-1 Visa in the US.

I love my country, however for some reason, I am not able to retain my stay in the country of my citizenship at least for now. In such event, I simply thought that I could remain my stay in the country of my residence. Unfortunately, as I had acquired my PR status through employment under the "Professionals/Technical Personnel and Skilled Workers (PTS)" scheme, I will need to show proof of my employment in that country when I apply for renewal of my Re-Entry Permit (REP). I would lose my Permanent Resident status if I were outsides the country by the time "Re-Entry Permit" expires.

It seems like I am not able to go back to neither of my country nor the country of residence. As a matter of fact, I do not know anything about politics, but because of the severe hatred of ruling government, I involved in the protest against the government and now I am ****ed.

I am not sure if I could apply for Asylum.

are you travelling? Are you outside USA?

You will have to establish that you lost your status in that "first world' country and you are not engaging in forum shopping. To be perfectly honest with you, the immigration officer will be a bit skeptical. You have to document everything well. See an attorney.
