Asylum final approval, how long will it take?

My friend got his asylum interview back in december 2007 and received recommended approval in march 2008. We sent letter to asylum officer about final approval and they replied by saying they haven't received backround, security check info yet.

i guess this is the FBI name check thing. isn't?

how long it took you to get final approval from recommended approval?

This wait is so upsetting! what to do?
 
just two years, man u r so lucky!!!! i am waiting for almost 3 years...I have court date on Sep. I hope i got it in this year.
 
down, what? you got recommended approval 3 years ago and waiting for final approval now and now you have court date on SEP?

make some sense for what you said. once you get recommended approval. you are not refered to court.
 
Jonny, i am sorry for my mis take. I was granted the asylum by IJ but IO appealed. and waiting....
 
down, IO doesn't appeal judge's grant of asylum. You got rejected by by IO or AO and thats why you were sent to IJ. The DHS lawyer must have appealed judge's asylum grant.

IO has nothing to do with judge's consideration.
