Hello! Has anyone received any decisions from the newark asylum office? Here’s my timeline
September 4th 2019- application received
October 21st 2019-fingerprints
November 6th 2019 - interview done
The officer at the end of the interview said that the decision will be mailed opposed to me picking it up in 2 weeks. I have an unexpired student visa but i’m not in status since I graduated already. So any idea how long the wait is for a decision? Weeks? Months? Years? Please share your experiences. Thanks :)

The visa has nothing to do with your status. I'd say that you may expect your final decision no longer than one year. If the officer thought that you are not qualified for asylum, there is a good chance that you'd get the denial decision next week. It normally takes 2 weeks after the interview to get the rejection letter.
You have no longer student status. Visa has nothing to do with status. Visa is just a permission to enter the US. Your status is determined by a valid i-20 which I assume you no longer have because you graduated, unless you applied for OPT

Update! Got my approval on 11/19 and EAD sent out in the mail a week later. The process was very smooth and fast. Couldn’t be more thankful :)

Hey buddy you are so lucky. I applied almost 3 years ago but still my status is pending. I didnt get any interview day yet. This unclear situation is killing me.
