Asylum Case!! Help

I will like to know if i can still adjust my status from F1 by applying for Asylum despite it has passed the 1year timeline.

As i was not not sure if i was eligible for a longtime. And an really finding it difficult in continuing with studies at this time
due to situations beyond my control.

Any advice and suggestion will be welcome!!
