Asylum case approved, what's next?

Hello everyone,

My asylum case was approved 2 days ago and I can't describe what relief it brought to my life. I received the approval letter along with three other pages which include instruction on how to obtain SSN , EAD card, etc. I already have a SSN do I need to file for a new SSN? Am I eligible for financial assistance??

Congratulation on your approval. I am assuming that you have a restricted SSN. If that is the case, go and get an unrestricted SSN. What do you mean by financial assistance? Do you mean financial assistance for college?

i was in same situation, hey, you got approved finally or recommendedly 2 days ago? you said you got instructions on how to apply for benefits which means you got approved finally, well, how long you waited to receive final approval from recommended approval? don't forget to answer that question.

I had restricted SS number before I applied for asylum and after getting asylum, I applied and received same SS number but UNRESTRICTED SS CARD.
When applying,you must state in the YES/NO page that you have SS number already and write the number.
also, if you want, you must apply for benefits ASAP.

go to your nearest state DHS office, department of human service with SS card- or letter saying you applied for SS number, also I-94 and approval letter, you will be approved for 8 months of food stamp and medical care.
