I came to US on J1 visa and have got waiver of 2 yr home residence requirement recently based on fear of Persecution. After the waiver I also applied for asylum. How do you think it may affect my application for asylum?

Formally speaking, there is no effect. These are two separate processes. But of course you should highlight this on the asylum application. Also, the legal standard for the waiver is higher than that for asylum, so this bodes well for you.
