Hi everyone.

I have pending AOS and recently received dv 2006 winning package. Do I have to wait till October 1, 2006 and then send I-485 to CIS or I can do it know? Is waiting line same for all AOS or DV' cases have priority line? Do I have to send again processing fees? Do I need to do fingerprint again(did last time Nov' 04)?

I tried to connect CIS customer servise and went to see CIS officer in local office. Unfortunately, they only confused me more. I hope someone can give advise based on personal experience or any helpfull source of info.

I think you have to wait till your number becomes current, otherwise you are risking of being denied the visa. About processing times, DV cases are supposed to have priority, but in reality it rarely happens. I'm not sure about processing fees, but I think fees are connected to the application, so every time you submit application you have to pay the fees. Not sure how long are fp valid.

If you choose AOS option, then you can send DSP-122 to KCC now. You cannot send I-485 to CIS until your number becomes current. You can see what numbers have become current on visa bulletins at www.travel.state.gov

If you go through consular processing, you can send the whole package to KCC now. But if you are an asylum case, you probably can't travel to your home country to do consular processing. :(

Waiting time depends on the time the case number becomes current. If your number is, for example, EU000015567, and it doesn't become current till April of next year, that means that you cannot submit your I-485 until then, and only after that You will get an interview.

My number probably will be current in Feb' 06 and I will send I-485 at that time. What if back log for I-485 one year in CIS office, I will be scheduled on interview approx Feb' 07 when DV-2006 over?? :confused:

all possible interviews will be scheduled and gone through before 30th of September 2006. DV cases are processed differently from regular AOS, and the timelines you see on USCIS website do not apply. Do not forget to write on your package in capital letters something like "DV LOTTERY - EXPEDITE PLEASE"
