Hey.
RTD is only valid for 1 year. After 6 months ,this document consider as expired for many countries , if you would like to obtain the visa. Also RTD producing time is too long , need to wait around year or more.

If I have Asylee status, i485 is pending , is it possible to apply for Advance parole and us it instead RTD ?

Thanks.

No you can’t have advance parole . AP is not for asylee

AP: only for pending application I-589 (not approved case , not Asylee)

RTD: For Asylee and green card holder ( asylum based )

Re entry permit: Green card holder (for all basis )

FYI ,
1.when you are pending I-589 , you are not considering asylee . You are pending application

2.Once you approve , then you became asylee

3. Once your I-485 approve you are no longer asylee and you become Permanent resident

Base on my understanding you are asylee and you are only qualified for RTD , but once you become LPR then you can apply for reentry permit as well

Good luck

AP is not only for pending I-589. AP is also for people with pending I-485, and a few other situations. The OP has a pending I-485. Can you cite any official source that says pending I-485 from asylee cannot get AP while other pending I-485s can?

In the I-131 instructions, first page, under Refugee Travel Document, it says:
Individuals who hold asylee or refugee status and are not lawful permanent residents must have a Refugee Travel Document to return to the United States after travel abroad unless they possess an Advance Parole Document.
This implies that it must not be impossible for people in asylee or refugee status to have an AP.

Read the the last words “ non immigrant status” . this could be correct but if you file I-485 based on other basis and if you have still in none immigrant status . let’s say you are in process of none asylee base green card and have filed I-485 until you get approved you are in noneimmirant status until adjust . In this case you can

But if you already asylee that means you obtained immigrant status and no longer in none immigrant status , in this case you need to apply for RTD

I know it’s abit confusing but you can ask your lawyer

Also I-131 is Kinda a form of travel document that depend on your situation and status you need to select the appropriate option it does not mean that you are qualified for all of them

I am an asylee (granted) and have a pending green card application. I need to travel to Europe for a conference next summer. What should I apply to? Refugee travel document or advance parole? My country-issued passport has expired, and I never applied for a new one or extension.

Well, if you do not have a valid passport, then you would have to get a Refugee Travel Document to use as your travel document, right?

Yes, that's what I learned from two lawyers and the information on the immigration forums. I am sending my docs now for RTD and will request an expedited process once I receive the "received" mail.

Granted asylum (no COP)
Applied to RTD (not yet received)
Applied to GC
GC approved and received.

Now which one? wait for RTF or re-entry?

If you are a permanent resident who adjusted from asylee, you can choose to get either a Refugee Travel Document or a Re-entry Permit. The Re-entry Permit is valid for 2 years while the Refugee Travel Document is only valid for 1 year, but the Refugee Travel Document might be accepted by more countries.

Eh, I'd say the only real downside of the RP is that you need a visa for more places than with the RTD. But, the 2-year validity outweighs this easily.

Agreed. And RP takes a bit less time to get.

We are considering having a new passport from our country’s embassy in the US and don’t visit COP but to some other countries. Yes, we need a visa but we don’t have to wait until we get our RP.

My only concern is that if something happens during the citizenship interview.
