Hi,

I am a US citizen and my mother is a green card holder. She applied to become a US citizen (N-400) back in April 2010.
She got a notice in mail asking for her finger print which was done early May 2010.

From that time until now, the website showed a message saying “Requesting for more evidence” and it reads that they sent us a letter asking for more evidence. The date of that letter is April 23nd. The date on the finger print request letter is April 22nd so I am guessing that’s the letter they’re referring to on their website.

Nothing else happened from that time and we were concern why it’s taking too long so we sent an email to the immigration office. Got a reply back which I paste below.

The thing is we never received an I-797 or I-171 request or letter in the mail so not sure what to do now. Can some one please help me with this as you all have been through this process before and have tons of helpful information.

Please let me know.

Thanks in advance, I really appreciate your help,

Here’s the email they sent:

Dear Sir/Madam:

Please be advised that the National Visa Center (NVC) has received your inquiry. Unfortunately, we do not have record of receiving your petition. Please submit a scanned copy of your I-797 or I-171 Notice of Action - Approval Notice ( USCIS form I-797 or I-171) to NVCResearchATstate.gov email address if it has been more than 15 business days since your petition was sent to the NVC. Please type the receipt number in the subject line of your email and include one attachment/case per email. We will contact U.S. Citizenship Immigration Services (USCIS) to locate your petition.

If you received the form I-797 or I-171 Notice of Action - Approval Notice indicating that your petition has been retained by USCIS, or another type of the Notice of Action that is not an Approval notice, please contact USCIS at (800) 375-5283 for further information.

It's too early to say anything, she had a FP in May and its only July, a interview is usually scheduled between 60-120 days after the FP appiointment these days depending on the work load of a DO. You are right about the RFE, FP is the request of evidence that they are referring to on the website.
They definitely have your petition that is why you are able to check online status and had a FP appt. I will make a Infopass appt right away to at least have them clarify the letter that you have recently received and also to get more info on the petition status in person.

namecheckvictim,

Thanks for your reply. I feel less worried now :-) She has her fingerprint done back in early May. So hopefully she will hear from them sometimes in August maybe?

Thanks again

Hi all,

I had signed up for automatic case update email at their website. Today I received an email from USCIS saying her application was sent to a local office here in Virginia. It also says the case has either been scheduled for an interview or is in line to be scheduled for an interview.

I was wondering if someone could please let me know how soon approx. the interview will be scheduled for?

Thanks in advance
