Ask for GC?

Hi all,

I am in the process of switching jobs. I am 2 years old on my H1. I am getting offers from companies for a full time permanent position. In general, are the companies providing support for PERM (not the desi consultants)? Do I need to ensure that the company will help me with PERM or is it too rude o ask them even before I get the offer? Is PERM so complicated that it is worth turning down the offer if the company hesitates to help?

I have a MS (from US). Is it possible to apply for PERM with minimal intervention from the company? I would like the attorney to do most of the work if possible.

Thanks!

Now there is only one process to get LC for GC. Which is PERM.

So the question you need to ask your new employer is WILL YOU PROCESS MY GC ? OR When YOU WILL FILE FOR MY GC.

GC thru Employment in EB-2 & EB-3 cases requires Employer Sponsership. So You cannot file on your own. You will need Employers Help Big time in Labor Certification & I-140. I-485 does not need much help from Employer, but you still be working in the same/similar job profile till you get GC.

Thanks a lot gp111 for your help.

I am on the verge of getting an offer letter from a reputed company. I believe it would give me a really good break in my career. I am unsure if they have had any experience with the immigration matters at all. As a special case, they agreed for a H1 transfer. When I did ask them about GC, they said they would "consider" it after 1 year of employment. I do not want to discourage them by explain the complexities involved in PERM.

How are others dealing with issues like this? Are other companies realizing the complications of PERM and are they offering support? I hate it when I have to turn down an offer because of the GC process.

Any inputs will be appreciated.

Since you have plenty of time in your h1 (total 6 yrs), first impress your bosses with your skills and HR. After one year, they will automatically do the GC. PERM is not so complicated, if your company hire a reputed attorneys' like MR Khanna, they will do it for you with out any hassels to your employer. Good Luck concentrate on the new job.
