About 2 months ago I was falsely accused of assault and stalking. I was arrested and questioned and the police released me an hour after my arrest. They did the investigation and found that really I was falsely accused of everything. The case never even went to court and charges against me were never filed. Right now, I am planning on applying for citizenship and I am wondering if this is going to cause any problems? The detective that was on my case offered to type up a letter explaining what really happened and that I was never charged with any crime. I am also aware that I must provide a certified copy of my arrest with my naturalization application. However, since my case did not even go to court I was told that I don't even have an arrest record generated since I was never even booked for jail or anything like that. What do I do???

Well, it seems like you were Detained rather than arrested, Arrest includes Finger Printing, Booking and release on bond, personal recognizanse or with a court date.
You will just disclose you were detained and attach a copy of the letter provided by the officer with his contact info. Attach his card with the letter. It does not seems like you will have an issue with nat'z related to this event.

Ok, thanks. During my interview should I bring any related documents, like investigation follow-up, etc? The person who falsely accused me also got a temporary order of protection, which was later dismissed after looking at the facts. Should I disclose that with my naturalization? I've heard that protection orders are of civil matter and they don't really affect my criminal history. Is that true? Thanks.

Bring the court documents showing you were dismissed. There's no need to mention restraining order since they are civil. They become criminal once you break them.

Oh, ok. Well, I don't have any court documents since my case never even went that far, so I guess I will just bring the detective's followup notes. As I mentioned before, the detective was happy to provide me with a letter stating that I was never charged with anything, etc etc. My question is when should I give this letter to the USCIS? Should I attach it with my naturalization application and file it together? Or, should I wait to show it during my interview? Thanks!

hello.. does this question only related to arrested/cited/detained in US? Do you have to mention if you were detained in your COP before coming here?
thanks!
