Are we at risk for H4 stamping and at port of entry in USA ?

Hi All,
I'm planning India trip to get married in Dec 2006 and would like to come back on Jan 7, 2007 and at the same I would also like to bring my wife along with me(for which appointement is scehduled at 28 Dec 2006) .But,my current H1 expires on Feb 3 2007 which is very close to my vacation end date(i.e Jan 7 2007).

1.Will the Caluctta consulate issue H4 to my wife for this very short
period(i.e 1 month)?

Since I'll be very close to my H1 expiry,will it create any problem for me or my wife on our way back to US? :confused:

I have not applied for H1 extension so far because I I have heard that travel is not advisable when extension is filed and so I have decided that after I come back from India, by 7th Jan 2006, will file for my H1 extension.

Can anyone suggest me how do I make my India trip safe by considering all the above visa issues

You can extend your visa by premium process and get it approved before you leave to your home country and stamp it while you go with your wife for H4.

Thanks for your reply ... I would like to know the options other then premium processing , what are implications if I go with normal processing.
