Hi,

I understand that NAME CHECK is done during GC process and citizenship process. My questions are:

[1]Why they do it twice?

[2] Are both processes are same or different?

[3] Do they check criminal background and other issues after green card period only?

Thanks

they doubt you did something in those 5 years, so more strict when you apply citizenship as I know.

Those who obtained green card through Consular processing (majority if you consider family sponsored immigration) would not have had this name check.

Company sponsored G.C

It means that those who got their G.C through company sponsored way had their name check before.

In that case FBI might have the record of name check of those people and should take less time for name check.
