Are Student Visas applicable for studying in elementary or high schools?

Dear All,

1) Are Student Visas applicable for studying in elementary or high schools or
they just meant for higher studies only ?

2) If answer is 'yes' for Q:1 then Can citizen or PR sponsor the child of his
brother/sister for studying in public/private schools?

Yes, F-1 is applicable in this case, however, the child has to go to either a private school and pay tuition, or has to go to the public school and reimburse the school in advance for a cost of one student studying there. Additional information can be found at www.travel.state.gov
