Is there any way to check if AR11 was received and processed ?

I filed AR11's for me and my family around 3 years ago. Is there any way to check if this was processed ?

Does it really matter?

If you are now submitting an N-400, the address you use will be the one to which USCIS sends all correspondence.

Here we go again... Just filing AR-11 doesn't change your address in their system. You also have to call.

1) You can not check AR-11 status. But, you should not be worried since your obligation is to report address change to USCIS and have proof about it (delivery confirmation). You are not an inspector general :)

2) If you filed AR-11 on-line, you will recieve confirmation email.

3) Please do not confuse changing address while having N-400 application and AR-11 process.

AR-11 process MUST be done by ANY and EVERY green card holder when he/she is moving to a new address (even if it is 2 blocks away).

In addition, those who have filed N-400 and moved need to call special number at USCIS to ensure that their address change is reflected properly in N-400 processing system so that they can recieve their USCIS mail (interview, FP notices, NOAs etc) on new address. You can find this number in either N-400 application instructions and/or Guide to Naturalization.

However, it is really NOT ADVISABLE for anyone to move with N-400 pending, because that can easily confuse USCIS computer system, re-direct mail wrongly, cause your application to be re-routed to new Service Center and DO and cause application delays or even improper application closing.

To clarify, I have not moved in the past 3 years, whenever I've moved I've sent in an AR11 form.

I do not have proof of sending in my AR11 forms three years back other than a copy, I don't remember now how I mailed it in, but it was certainly mail and not online as I don't think it was possible to do it online at that time.

My only concern is ,if for some reason it was not received, would it affect my N400 application.

AR-11 online filing is just a recent phenomen (1-2 months old).

Lesson learned: You should always send your mail as registered (with delivery confirmation) when dealing with USCIS, including AR-11 form.

While in reality you have no proof that you mailed in AR-11 and complied with USICS requirements, if your case is straightforward there should be no worries about it.

The only thing you can do....If this is bothering you too much, you can write an affidavit under the oath and claim that you send all AR-11 and attach copies to it. I would not file it with N-400 or give to officer during an interview, but just keep as your "backup" (in case you are asked about AR-11 or challenged about it). This might be obviously not necessary, but if it is going to give you peace of mind, please do it by all means. It takes no time to do it.

Good luck!

I think you guys are beating a dead horse too much ;) This AR-11 question has been answered and has NIL probability of causing any problem. Please, I am refering to the original post, not all of the intermediate answers about updating address after sending N-400 and other finer points. I wouldn't worry about affidavit or anything. If you sent your AR-11 that's enough, you complied. Nowadays with the online filing it is easier to meet the AR-11 requirement. However, many, many, many immigrants don't know about this requirement.

My 2 cents.

Don't worry about the 3 yr old AR11. Your N400 mails will come to the address you provide in the form.

I wouldn't worry a bit about address change. As long as you haven't gotten yourself in trouble with law, you are OK.
But let me share my experience with you guys. I mailed the AR form and called in 1 800 # in August 2006, because i moved after N400 filing. Last week which is first week of march 2007, I recieved a notice from USCIS stating that they have updated my address. It seems like it is taking USCIS 7 months to update addreses in their system:)

I agree about beating a dead horse :) Concur.....I wouldn't worry too much for a straighforward case (hopefully, original poster's case).

Though I would disagree somewhat about NIL probability of causing any problem for anyone . It REALLY depends on the case. For example....someone who might have problems with residency in US, many different addresses reported differently on various documents for same periods of time, suspicious history etc......IO officer might easily ask for AR-11 as an additional proof of residency or compliance. In addition, if IO officer is uncomfortable with the overall application, he/she might probe some "new areas".......

In this particular case, my suggestion about affidavit was more for a "physhological" purpose, not as a "must do" step. If it makes someone more comfortable and feeling well-prepared...why not (if it costs almost nothing)? I would not suggest some elaborate, cumbersome and expensive task.

BTW: My case was more than straigtforward. However, I had all my AR-11 filings plus delivery confirmations with me during the interview. Just in case......was never asked or presented them. Frankly, it was not a big deal for me to find + bring them since my home immigration file was in a good shape. Cost $0.

The second time I moved I didn't even inform the USCIS. However, during my interview which happened 2 weeks after I moved (within the same city), I told the IO about my new address. He was cool about it, no questions asked; he updated my application on the spot. The funny thing, my oath letter came to my previous address:D Thanks God my old roomie forwarded it to me.

Thank you all for taking the time to post.

Yes my case is straightforward ( I think), I've only moved twice in my 10 year stay in this country and both times I've sent in AR11's . No criminal record, no long trips out of the country etc.

Urgent And Time Sensitive, Support Senator Obama's Bill On Limiting Fbi's Name Check

Dear All:

Whether your citizenship has finally been approved, your case is pending or you are getting started, you know the need for reform in the stalling process that can take for years. Many of you are already aware of the "Citizenship Promotion Act" introduced by Senator Obama on March 7, 07. This bill limits the increase in the immigration fees, but most importantly delineates time frames for FBI name check, which has a backlog of 300,000 and are reviewing cases "manually". I have started a petition in support of the bill. Please be informed that the bill also supports applicants of permanent residency in their name check process as well. WE ALL NEED TO SIGN IT AND ALSO PASS IT ON TO ALL OF THE FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS WHO ARE OR HAVE BEEN ENTANGLED BY THE OVERDUE IMMIGRATION PROCESSES. THE MORE SIGNATURES WE HAVE, THE MORE WE WILL BE ABLE TO OBTAIN ADVOCACY FOR THE BILL BY THE CONGRESSMEN AND SENATORS.

PLEASE SIGN AND PASS FORWARD FOR ANYONE AND EVERYONE TO SEE.
