AR-11 and N-400 Filing

Hi,

We got our green card at our previous address, and then moved, I am not sure if we filed AR-11 after we moved. Now, we are at the verge of filing N400, is it alright if we just state our current address in the application? with the addresses we have resided in the past 5 years OR do we need to file for AR-11 first, then file the N400 for naturalization.

If we file without filing AR-11 first would USCIS raise a query because they don’t have our current address on file?

Please advice.

Thanks,
Ria

Its too late to file the AR-11 anyway since you moved long time ago. Just fill N400 with your current address and other addresses you lived in the past 5 years. If they ask you why you didn't file AR-11, explain your reasons. But I doubt they even ask you that.

It would be too late to file it for addresses prior to the current address, but it is not too late to file it for the most recent move (to the current address), even if it was years ago.

Thanks for the responses.

To clarify the issue, we moved only once after approval of green card, and have been living there for past 4 years, is there a need to file AR-11 before N-400 filing or is it better to file N-400 directly now?

thanks ...Ria

As Jackolantern says, go ahead and file your AR-11 online. Take a print out and keep it with you. Also, go ahead and file your N400. If in your interview, you are asked about AR-11, show them the printout and state that you were not sure if you filed it when you moved, and you just wanted to be sure so you refiled it. You should not have any problems (my guess).

I think you can file the N-400 directly. I believe some lawyers argue that the filing accomplishes the same goal of AR-11 as you are providing USCIS with your current address. I wouldn't send an AR-11 at this time.
