Hi,
Can I give my friend's address while filling up AR-11? He owns a house has a green card and not expected to move, while I may have to move depending upon my job.

However, I am expected to live in same general area but not exact address. Wondering whether anyone has any related experience.

I heard on every address change, they issue an RFE, just want to avoid multiple RFEs

Thanks

------------------------Where did you read that if you file AR11 they send RFE?? RFE is for any info or for any missing documents.
Thanks
filing AR11 will not change your address on pending Petitions. if you want the address change on pending petitions then you can also update when filing AR11 online and USCIS has option for that.

Thanks a lot Gnnu. Yeah, I need to do both the steps.

Based on my and my friend's experience, as soon as you change your address. They 'assume' that you have changed employment and ask you to provide information on your 'current employment'. Not a bad guess though on USCIS's part. They can easily find unemployed folks that way.

But I do not want to spend another $1000 on lawyers for RFE and all. I do not know that we were picked up randomly or what but thats just my experience.

Coming back to my original question. Is it ok to give friend's address?

First - as you know, the AR-11 is a legal requirement. You must inform the DHS of your location within 10 days of moving. However, as you know, updating the address on your applications is not the same as the AR-11.

Therefore, it may be okay to give your friend's address for your USCIS applications that are pending, but if you want to follow the law, you ought to file AR-11 every time you move. That way, you fulfill the legal requirement for AR-11, but the address on file for your pending applications will remain your friend's address.

So if you do it online, first submit AR-11 with your own current address, then click "Yes" when asked if you have any pending applications with USCIS and, on the next form, fill in your friend's address. The next time you move, again fill out AR-11 online, but when you get to the page that asks if you have any pending USCIS applications, just click "no", so that way the address on file for your applications will remain unchanged.

One more thing: I changed my address twice while my I-140/I-485 were pending, and submitted a change of address form (AR-11 and USCIS) both times - never got an RFE.
