Aprrovals after RFE

I would like to know how long does it take for an approval after an RFE has been recieved by the INS.
My RFE was recieved by the INS on July 2nd 2001.

AVM says my case approved, no RFE but my wife\'s not yet.
I don\'t know why
My PD MAY-99, RD-03-AUG-00, ND-24-AUG-00
Lay off in May15th 2001. Doing consulting through friends company.
Now I am going to open my company and I will do direct consulting
to avoid double social security payment to govenment.

Gurus do you think is this a good idea? If you think there will be a problem then let me know.
